21 Day Fix Protein List – What You Need to Know

I know I have talked a lot about the ins and outs of 21 Day Fix, but there are so many little parts to it that require some further explanation. Today, I want to address the 21 Day Fix Protein List column from the 21 Day Fix Approved Foods list.

Which container is it?

We’re talking about the red container. It is roughly the equivalent of 3/4 of a cup or six ounces. Depending on what your daily calorie intake is, you will generally have four to six of these containers a day on the 21 Day Fix Meal Plan.

What proteins can I have?

Here is the interesting thing about the 21 Day Fix Protein List . Yes, it includes your lean meats, turkey, ham, fish, etc. But it also contains some items that most people do not usually think of as protein.

That’s right, yogurt, eggs, and both ricotta and cottage cheese are all counted in this category. But note that it’s not ALL dairy. Other cheeses like cheddar and swiss, are considered healthy fats and are counted in the blue container.

Any protein powder (whey, rice, hemp) goes in the red container. Roughly 1.5 scoops of most powders count as one red container. Shakeology is also included here. One scoop of Shakeology is equal to one red container.

You already know that Shakeology has vegan options in most flavors. There are also vegan foods listed on the 21 Day Food protein list. These include tempeh, firm tofu, vegan protein powders, and veggie burgers.

I know that doesn’t seem like a lot of options, but I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Ready?

On a strictly vegan diet, you can swap foods from another container to your protein container.

Primarily, you are going to be raiding your yellow container, which is considered carbohydrates on the regular 21 Day Fix meal plan. Here are some from the yellow list that you can swap over to red:

·        Beans (cooked and drained). This includes kidney, black, and refried)

·        Edamame (shelled)

·        Lentils (cooked and drained)

·        Quinoa (cooked)

So, you see? It is still possible to get the nutrients you need from the Ceven if you’re vegan.

Just a reminder, don’t skimp on your reds. Protein is a significant source of energy, and many of the Beachbody workouts require the proper levels of protein to be able to get through the tough exercises. The 21 Day Fix containers and meal plan are designed to complement the workouts and help you lose weight while learning how to eat healthily. Portion control and excellent food choices are things that you can benefit from your entire life.

I’ve posted below a 21 Day Food Fix Protein List for you to keep on hand as a reminder.
