I love reading blogs from successful women about how they got to where they are now. I find their stories are so inspiring. They make you want to be just like them. A key theme I have noticed is that when a woman truly wants something, absolutely nothing can stop her (women are kinda badass that way).
The first step in being successful is to define the purpose of your business. Knowing your why will be your guiding principle as you embark on your entrepreneurial endeavor. You do what you do for a reason. Why did you start your business? Was it to help struggling women become more financially independent? Or maybe it was to inspire other women to live a healthy and fit lifestyle. Whatever your purpose is, always fall back on that as your motivation.
Everyone’s brains work differently. For some people, they focus best early in the morning while others are most productive at night. Figure out what time of day is best for you and do all of your most important work at that time. Repeat this every working day for the most productivity.
Attitude. Is. Everything. When it comes to your business, your mindset will account for a very large part of your success (or lack of). To put it simply, a lack of confidence in yourself comes across as a lack of confidence in your business to your clients.
You are the heart of your business. If you are not at your peak performance level then your business suffers as well. Practice self-care. Invest in education and building your skill-set. The business world is constantly changing and success requires that you are adaptable to those changes. Don’t fall behind because you don’t invest in yourself. Self-care is not selfish- it’s mandatory.
There is so much in business that you can’t control. You can’t control social media. You can’t control the economy. You can’t control what others are doing. But you know what you can control? You. You control how much you engage with your followers on social media. You control how much you promote and put yourself out there every day. Don’t stress about things out of your control. Focus on what you do have control over and do your best with that.
The beautiful part about building a business is that you are not the first one to tackle this mountain. Look at other women who have already built their dream businesses. How did they do it? Don’t be afraid to reach out to them for advice. We women have to stick together in this world.
If you haven’t figured this out already (I’m sure you have) you are going to fail at some point in your business. DO NOT GIVE UP! You haven’t failed, you have only found ways that don’t work. Keep pushing forward and trust that the universe wants to see your success. One day you will look back and see that you have climbed a mountain.
I don’t care how much you want your business to succeed, no part of your dream is ever worth giving part of yourself away. The authenticity that you bring to the table is your greatest attribute. Don’t water that down or change it for some temporary boost. Stay true to yourself and success will follow. Integrity is its own reward.
Having fears and apprehensions as an entrepreneur is normal. But it’s not ok to let those fears stop you from succeeding. You have to work through those fears and do what you are afraid of. Remove the word failure from your vocabulary. You either win or you learn, you never fail.
Have you ever noticed that most successful entrepreneurs are in shape? Uh, totally not a coincidence. Your brain needs blood to be at its peak performance level. If all you do is sit and stare at a computer screen all day, your brain is not getting what it needs. Regular exercise improves sleep quality, increases energy, and relieves stress- which in turn helps your business. So go out there and get your body moving!
In the spirit of being a little extra, here are two bonus (and somewhat unconventional) tips from successful women.
Repeat after me: I cannot reach my full potential by staying in a relationship that is holding me back. You cannot grow yourself or your business if you are with someone who sucks the positive energy out of you. If you want your business to thrive, you have to come from a place of peace and positivity. If you feel like your current relationship might be sinking your business, walk away with as much grace as you can, and get to work.
Did you know that when you switch environments your brain builds new neural pathways? How cool is that! If you can’t figure something out or are just in a rut in an area, move to a new environment. Trust me, it will make all the difference in the world.
Well, there it is. There’s no hidden secret or magic pill to take. The women you see crushing it in their business are no more special than you. The secret to success is simple: believe in yourself and never give up. If they can do it, you can too!
