Change

Clare and her husband experienced a few family trama’s relating to health that made them decide to dedicate more to wellness and fitness. Clare didn’t know women could build significant muscle over a certain age until she met someone at her gym who showed her it was possible. From there Clare went on to get her pro card at the age of 45 and has continued her journey of professional bodybuilding and weightlifting.

Age

Clare talks about the difference between weightlifting and bodybuilding at different ages for women. One being hormone balance. Hormones change with age, so it’s important to keep them in check. Another is digestion, which slows down with age. It’s really important to eat healthy, whole foods to help with digestion and internal balance.

Routine

When it comes to timing out her meals, Clare eats about 5 smaller meals a day from around 7:30 – 8:00 am through 5:30 – 6:00 pm. She does this since she is still trying to build muscle. In the morning, before she eats, she does a fasted cardio routine and then lifts before lunch. She also makes sure to include a lot of protein in her diet.

Weights

It’s key to listen to your body when it comes to lifting weights. If you are doing 12 to 15 reps, the last few reps should be pretty hard. If not, you need to go up, and if you can’t finish, you need to go down. Find what works for you in your routine, and make sure not to under or over train.

Supplements

A healthy diet and lots of water is the number one most important thing for losing fat and gaining muscle on top of a good fitness routine. Clare doesn’t like to share anything that she feels doesn’t work as far as supplements, but she does have a few items that can be helpful for certain people and shares her thoughts on these.

Book and Life

The “Fluffy To Fit” book was created by Clare to help any person at any stage of their lives with fitness and wellness questions. Clare also speaks about starting her fitness journey with her husband and how it’s really great to have support if you are just getting started. She encourages people to find a path that brings them good health and joy.
